Now Argos calls the iTunes

-

Argos has put a £200 limit on the amount of iTunes gift cards that can be bought at one time.

The move is designed to fight fraudsters who con victims into making payments with the cards.

In the three years to March 2018, Action Fraud received 11,329 reports of the scam, with total losses coming to £6.5million. Crooks exploit the fact that they don’t physically need the cards – they just need to persuade victims to buy them and read out the serial number over the phone.

The most common line spun when they coldcall is to claim they are from HM Revenue and Customs and that you owe unpaid tax, which must be paid via an iTunes card, and failure could mean prosecution.
