This Sherlock-style US drama is instantly gripping, with a generous dose of humour to break up the general themes of murder and violence.
Based on James Patterson’s novel, Murder Games, it begins with the killing of a teenager in a New York club. Then we cut to Alan Cumming as ex-CIA operative turned university professor and author Dr Dylan Reinhart. He’s giving his ‘Intro to Psychopaths’ lecture, and all’s going well until NYPD detective Lizzie Needham (Bojana Novakovic) arrives to tell him he’s connected to a serial killer case.
Cumming is brilliant as the rebellious, tweed-clad professor, who can read everything about a person through tiny clues. In another Sherlockesque stunt, we also see texts fly up on the screen.
This is a lot of fun as Dylan and Lizzie try to crack the case.
Oh, and if you need another reason to watch, Whoopi Goldberg also stars as Dr Dylan’s no-nonsense book editor.
