ASTON’S GOLD FIGURES

-

The famous James Bond Goldfinger DB5 is roaring back, complete with revolving number plates and other famous gadgets fitted to the original.

But why is Aston Martin going to all this trouble? Because it’s making 25 of them and they’ll sell for £2.75million plus taxes, which makes it £3.3million in the UK.

A quick tap on the Casio results in a cool £68.75million for the lot, but I reckon it probably costs Aston about half a million quid to make each one. That’s a lot of profit. Jaguar has done the same by making ‘new’ XKSS and D-Type models and selling them for similar amounts. It’s easy money.

There’s word that Ferrari is thinking of doing the same and recreating some of its old treasures. But I think it’s a shame. It’ll be like looking at a fake painting.
