BRIGHT CHARLIE IS ROVERS HERO

- BY ANDY KELLY

Blackburn 2 Reading 2

TWO second-half penalties from Charlie Mulgrew denied Reading their first league victory of the season.

Mulgrew struck seven minutes into the second half and 13 minutes from time, both after fouls from Reading captain Paul McShane.

The comeback maintained Rovers’ unbeaten Championship start while Reading earned their first league point of the season.

But Royals’ boss Paul Clement must have hoped for more after a first-half double from Icelandic striker Jon Dadi Bodvarsson.

He reached Leandro Bacuna’s ball to flick past David Raya, and later pounced on a rebound (above) after David Raya produced a low save from Yakou Meite’s header.

Mulgrew fired home from the spot after McShane tripped Elliott Bennett and then after the defender had fouled him.
