Robbery hits hero’s return to Normandy

INVASION Eric during war A VETERAN’S journey to where he had landed in France ended after a burglar ransacked his home.

Former Royal Marine Eric Vaughan, 94, was making his first trip back to the spot he went ashore after D-Day in 1944, when a neighbour called him with the news.

Luckily, Eric, awarded the French Legion d’honneur, had his medals with him.

But his service jack-knife and other items went in the July 14 raid at Prestatyn, North Wales. Eric said: “I’d hoped to see Honfleur now. It makes your blood boil.” PROUD Veteran today
