SUPPORTER STABBED

A BURNLEY supporter was stabbed before kick-off as trouble flared in Athens.

The fan was attacked ahead of the Europa League qualifying tie at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium and needed stitches for his wound. Three more people from Burnley’s 1,000-strong travelling support were also badly beaten and robbed in the Greek capital.

Twenty-three fans were arrested by Greek police for being drunk and refusing to get on coaches provided to ferry them to the stadium.
