TIGER WOODS and Phil Mickelson are to play in a $9million winner-takes-all challenge match in Las Vegas.

Mickelson (left, bottom) has opened a Twitter account and has fired the first ‘banter’ shot.

It is so dull, it doesn’t merit reprinting. The return of Woods (left, top) to something vaguely approaching his best has been one of the most intriguing sporting stories of the year.

That he is going to sully it with the tackiest of engagements, where an obscene amount of cash is the only motive, is one of the most disappointing.
