THE Campaign for Real Conkers wants players to boycott the World Conker Championship over plans to import German conkers.

The WCC said the heatwave had hit the size of British horse chestnuts.

Keith Flett, organiser of the CFRC’s rival contest said: “There’s nothing wrong with British conkers – they will be a good size by the time they fall.”

Some 256 players are due at the WCC event at Southwick, Northants, on October 14.
