Gimme, gimme, gimme strength

I’ve a sad admission to make. I got dragged along to see Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and found myself singing later that night “Gimme, gimme, gimme a hot poker after midnight” so I could try to burn the memories of it from my skull as my brain hadn’t been confronted with so much pointless banality since Nadine Dorries’ last tweet. And I’m thinking of writing to rightwing papers demanding they campaign to get the film banned on the grounds that the Abba songs are just a clever distraction from a degrading story about a promiscuous woman who gets up the duff by so many men she doesn’t know who the father is. Just call me Mary Whitehouse.
