65-yr marriage of pair who were sweethearts at three
CHILDHOOD sweethearts who met when they were just three have celebrated 65 years of marriage.
George Bruce, who wed Enid when they were 23, said the secret to reaching their sapphire anniversary was “to love each other and never let the sun go down on an argument”.
The couple, of Shoreham, West Sussex, celebrated with family, friends and staff at the care home where Enid, 87, lives. George, 86, said: “We are so grateful for the love and kindness shown by the home that has added to our blessings.” He gave Enid a pendant necklace with a sapphire at the centre while the home’s chef baked a cake decorated with a blue rose. The pair met in South Africa and also lived in Bristol, Milton Keynes and Slough. They have three children and four grandchildren.
