Yates sounds out red alert

SIMON YATES closed the gap on the leader’s red jersey with a late attack on La Vuelta’s stage four.

The Bury rider took 27 seconds out of Team Sky’s Michal Kwiatkowski to cut his deficit to 10secs, leaving him third overall. American Ben King won the stage out of the breakaway.

TEAM WIGGINS will race in the Tour of Britain next week following the demise of Irish team Aqua Blue Sport.
