Psychosis ‘is eased by use of cannabis’
CANNABIS extract could help ward off psychosis, a study has found.
Researchers hailed it as the first evidence cannabidiol can cut symptoms and may help thousands avoid the condition’s delusions and hallucinations.
King’s College London tested young people with psychotic symptoms and found a dose of extract cut abnormal brain activity.
It had the opposite effect to the cannabis chemical linked to psychosis, THC.
Dr Sagnik Bhattacharyya said: “One of the main advantages of cannabidiol is that it is safe.”
The Government plans to legalise cannabis extract as medicine after Billy Caldwell, 13, was allowed to use it for his epilepsy.
