Only here for the leer... pub axes ‘sexist’ brew
A BREW called Beer Goggles has been pulled from a town centre pub after complaints it was a sexist throwback to the 70s.
Anyone ordering a pint of Beer Goggles saw a pump clip with a drawing of a haggard old lady which, when rotated, turned into a beautiful young woman wearing a crown on top of her flowing hair.
There was outrage when Wiki Sussex Pubs, which posts guides to hostelries, ran a tweet which said: “A great pint and just the best pump clip I have seen in ages!” The praise led to an outpouring of rage on social media.
One tweet said: “This pump clip belongs in the 70s alongside the likes of Benny Hill.”
The Kings Arms, in Horsham, West Sussex, is now removing both beer and clip. It said: “A pump clip seems to have caused upset.”
But Beer Goggles makers Elgood’s Brewery insisted: “It is generally accepted as fun. This beer and clip have sold nationwide.”
