Farage finds support for mayoral bid
NIGEL Farage claims he is considering standing to be Mayor of London in 2020.
The former UKIP leader points to more people in the capital voting to leave the EU than voting for the current Mayor Sadiq Khan.
The pro-Brexit MEP said: “I have been encouraged to stand by a group of people but that doesn’t mean I’m going to.
“I haven’t said, ‘No’. I’m thinking about it.”
Labour’s Mr Khan was elected in 2016 with almost 1.2 million votes while the UKIP candidate Peter Whittle won just 94,000.
In the referendum, 1.5 million Londoners voted to leave while 2.3 million elected to remain.
Mr Khan, accused by Mr Farage of failing “to get to grips with crime”, is expected to win in 2020.
