Paris, 20, told the audience in Las Vegas her father would have been awed by the celebration on his birthday.

She added: “I don’t think he would really say anything. He was humble, and that is how he was with us. I would want to make him proud. ”

Prince, 21, added: “His lasting legacy is that I try to make it my goal to help somebody else out and listen to their problems – even if it is a complete stranger – to put a smile on someone’s face you really care about.

“The way my father lead his life was by example.

“He never thought he was too big, even though he was the King Of Pop and the biggest entertainer in the world.

“There are a lot of things you can really do for your community that doesn’t require an extravagant amount of money. “It is important you do this to make this world a better place.” Smiling Paris then praised Prince, saying: “I am lucky to have him in my life. He always has my back.” The award was presented during a birthday special of Cirque du Soleil’s MJ ONE show at the Mandalay Bay Resort. Prince went on: “I am very honoured that tonight is celebrating the humanitarian and charitable contributions my dad was involved in.” Michael’s brother Jackie said: “We used to celebrate Michael’s birthday at Neverland [Jackson’s California home]. “We had the rides, brought the kids and went to his cinema and had balloon fights. This show being so special tonight is great. “I’m so glad to see all the fans show their support for Michael.” Tito added: “That 50th anniversary tour with Michael would have been incredible. We are still going ahead and dedicating a portion of our show to Michael.” Their was worldwide grief after Michael Jackson died aged 50 following an overdose of the powerful anaesthetic propofol. His doctor Conrad Murray was jailed.
