Liver function tests, as their name implies, are to test the function of your liver.

Your doctor may want to perform LFTs if they suspect that your liver function is under par due to viral hepatitis, glandular fever, alcoholism, gallstones and liver cancer.

LFTs can be carried out at regular intervals to monitor the effects of liver damage and the signs of recovery.
