SPURS ASK LEAGUE: CAN WE PLAY HORNETS AT MK DONS?

-

SPURS have asked to play their Carabao Cup game against Watford at MK Dons’ stadium.

Tottenham had hoped to be in their new White Hart Lane stadium by now, but are still tenants at Wembley.

However, Wembley will be unavailable for the game against Watford because the stadium is hosting Anthony Joshua’s heavyweight fight with Alexander Povetkin on September 22. The Carabao Cup match between Tottenham and Watford is currently scheduled for Tuesday, September 25.

Tottenham confirmed: “The club was required to submit its application prior to this evening’s draw and the board of the EFL will now consider our request at its next meeting on Sept 6.”

The tie for the third round sees Liverpool take on Chelsea in a repeat of the 2005 final in Cardiff, which Chelsea won 3-2.

And holders Manchester City were handed an away trip to League One Oxford.
