have ATLETICO lost all three MADRID of the European Cup/Champions League finals they’ve taken part in (1974, 2014, 2016). No team has taken part in as many finals without winning one. Atletico have won only one of their last seven Champions League group stage games.

GROUP B Barcelona Tottenham PSV Eindhoven Inter Milan

BARCELONA have reached the Champions League semi-finals only once in the last five seasons. They had made it to the last four in each of their previous six appearance­s in the competitio­n between 2007/08 and 2012/13. Barcelona have won 17 of their last 22 group stage games (W17 D4 L1).

GROUP C Paris St-Germain Napoli Liverpool Red Star Belgrade

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN haven’t progressed further than the quarter-finals in the last six seasons. Their best effort was a semi-final in 1994/95 when they were beaten by AC Milan. Since their return to the Champions League in 2012/13, PSG have only had one goalless draw in 56 games.

MANCHESTER CITY’S Pep Guardiola faced Lyon with Barcelona in the last 16 in 2008-09 on the way to winning the first of his two Champions League titles as a manager. Forty per cent of Champions League winners have come from Group F under the current formula (6 of 15).

REAL MADRID are playing in the Champions League for the 22nd consecutiv­e season, the longest run in the history of the competitio­n. They have always made it out of the group stages. Real have reached the semifinals in each of the last eight campaigns.

JUVENTUS’S Cristiano Ronaldo has scored in both of his previous Champions League appearance­s against Manchester United for Real Madrid in February and March 2013. Juventus have won the European Cup/Champions League on two occasions (1985 and 1996).
