Sexting link to fall in teen pregnancies
TECH Habits are changing SEXTING and online chats have helped to cut the number of teen pregnancies, experts say.
Under-18 pregnancy rates have reached record lows in a number of areas.
In 1969, the rate for girls aged between 15 and 17 was 41 per 1,000 girls.
In the 12 months leading up to June 2017, the rate dropped to 18 per 1,000.
The British Pregnancy Advisory Service said this was because people are spending more time socialising online.
Katherine O’Brien said: “Improvements in contraception and sex education undoubtedly play a role.
“But this generation focus on academic work more, they are less likely to go out binge drinking and they are spending less time in person with partners.”
