Crossrail ‘is running late’

LONDON’S Crossrail project is behind schedule and will miss its December opening date.

The east-west railway will now begin in the autumn of next year.

Crossrail Ltd said more time was needed for “final infrastructure and extensive testing”.

The Paddington to Abbey Wood section will be the last to be finished.

The budget is up from £14.8billion to £15.4billion.

Trains will run from Reading and Heathrow to Essex and South London.
