Dream can come true for Johnston

-

WE’RE off to Sandown to find the winner of the 188Bet Handicap.

Despite being one of the lowest-profile races we preview all summer it still has plenty of trends — the most relevant being:

Ran at Goodwood, Haydock, Newmarket or York last time.

Already had four or more runs this season.

Aged three, four or five.

Having taken that lot into account we have reduced the number of contenders from 12 to a more manageable trio.

Mark Johnston’s Communique was well fancied at York last week and ran respectably without setting the world alight. However, that’s the second time he’s been found wanting from his current mark and needs to improve to figure.

DREAM TODAY, also trained by Johnston (left), looked to be getting his act together at York and is worth trying over two furlongs further than previously attempted. His handicap mark is going south too and he can pay back connections for patience shown since he made a winning debut in York’s Convivial Stakes last year.

Dream Today rates better value than likely favourite History Writer, so have 2pts win at 12-1 in places.
