Lucy suspect in Facebook block is jailed
A CARE worker held on suspicion of a schoolgirl’s murder has been jailed for refusing to give police his Facebook password.
Stephen Nicholson, 24, was held after 13-year-old Lucy McHugh was found stabbed to death in woodland near a sports centre in Southampton in July.
He told police he was in contact with her on Facebook the day she went missing but would not let them see the messages.
Police are now seeking access from Facebook via the US justice department.
Dad-of-one Nicholson, of Southampton, was jailed for 14 months at the city’s crown court after admitting failing to co-operate with the investigation.
A decision on whether to charge him over Lucy’s death is due next month.
