He died of bleed on brain

-

DISABLED Scott Hall was punched and kicked in the street by Aarron Peet and another thug.

The 28-year-old victim died of a brain bleed 11 days after the unprovoked attack.

Scott’s grieving mum Carol was then hit with the Bedroom Tax because his room was no longer in use. But Peet, then 15, was never charged with causing her son’s death in August 2014. He received a community sentence as no direct link could be proven to the injuries Scott suffered and the attack by the yob and another 15-year-old.

The case provoked uproar when Carol, 59, faced being made homeless because of the crippling Bedroom Tax.

Generous Mirror readers raised more than £4,000, and she was able to stay in the property.

There was further fury when both Peet and his fellow attacker were spared prison and given referral orders after admitting assault causing actual bodily harm in March, 2015. Scott had suffered Rasmussen’s syndrome, a rare brain disorder which affected his balance, his speech and the way he walked. He lived out the last days of his life in fear after being set upon by the cowardly thugs.

A court was told later his disability “must have been apparent to his attackers”.

Scott’s family are convinced the bleed to his brain was linked to the assault near his home in Durham.
