RICE MUSTN’T GO OFF BOIL

- BY DAVID WOODS

MANUEL PELLEGRINI fears Declan Rice’s international dilemma could hit the starlet’s performances.

The 19-year-old West Ham defender is anguishing over whether to play for the Republic of Ireland or England.

London-born Rice has made 23 appearances at various levels for the Republic, including three at senior level.

But all three of those have been friendlies meaning he is still eligible for the Three Lions.

England boss Gareth Southgate has held talks with the teenager (above) and admitted on Thursday: “He has a really difficult decision because there is a lot of pressure on him.”

And with the Hammers bottom and pointless after three games, Pellegrini said: “When you have something disturbing you it is not good for anyone, not just for Declan.”
