ROYALS TOLD DO MOORE TO SAVE CLEM

-

READING captain Liam Moore has told his side to buck up their ideas and make sure another manager does not pay for their poor form.

The defender said the Royals’ players were responsible for getting Jaap Stam the boot in March – and are currently hanging his replacement Paul Clement (above) out to dry, too.

Clement is already under big pressure after failing to win any of the first six league games this term, following Saturday’s home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.

And now Moore, 25, has given his full backing to the ex-Swansea and Derby chief. He said: “We are all behind the manager. We were losing games under the previous manager we were behind.

“People look at the manager but they should be looking at the individuals, myself included.

“The manager is trying to help us. It’s a team game but you need individuals to turn up. Our old manager was let down by that not happening. At the current time, the manager in place at the moment is being let down, too.”

Moore was Reading’s standout player as he scored a 65th-minute consolation following Adam Reach’s 12th-minute effort and Lucas Joao’s fine strike 15 seconds after the restart which had the Owls flying.

Moore added: “We were clueless on how to break them down.

“We need a lot of hard work and a lot of characters. We have to grind this out. We can’t sulk and feel sorry for ourselves.”

Barry Bannan, 28, celebrated signing a three-year deal with Wednesday by pulling the strings in midfield. He said: “I’m feeling brilliant at the moment and, hopefully, this can be one of the best seasons of my career.”
