HORRIBLE HISTORY

Lions boss wants to turn back the clock and make Millwall the side no one wants to play against

- BY ROBERT DUNFORD

NEIL HARRIS believes Millwall must get back to being the side other teams fear playing.

The Lions suffered a late defeat to 10-man Swansea – their third straight league loss.

It should have been easier for the south Londoners, who played with an extra man for almost the entire game and went ahead through Murray Wallace’s header.

Defeat left boss Harris questioning the mentality of his players – while he also defended letting George Saville go to Middlesbrough on loan last week.

Harris (below) said: “We have to get back to stop making individual errors, to get back to being that horrible Millwall side to play against.

“And here at the Den we’ve been that for a large majority of the game.

“There’s been little moments where we switch off, but at the moment we’re getting punished for them – and punished horribly.

“When you go away and lose at Sheffield Wednesday, and then Rotherham with no points on the road, it puts pressure on the home games. So when you’re at 1-1 you feel like you’ve got to win the game. “From a business perspective George had to go. The amount of money that was offered was ridiculous. It was good business from us.” As brittle as Millwall were, it should not take away the excellent show of character by Swansea. After losing Courtney BakerRichardson within five minutes to a red card, Millwall’s goal by Murray Wallace should have buried the Welsh side. However, the comeback was thanks in part to birthday boy Jefferson Montero, who played a role in both goals.

The Ecuadorian came on as a sub and supplied both goals for Kyle Naughton (above) and Oli McBurnie.

Swans fans voiced their anger at chairman Huw Jenkins after he appeared on the big screen, but there was unity in the post-game celebrations. And goalscorer McBurnie was quick to praise Montero for his part in the unlikely comeback.

He said “It’s incredible, I don’t think many teams will be able to bring on a player of his quality off the bench, never mind starting.

“When we go down in games we know we have his firepower.

“At half-time, the manager said there’s chances for us, that we keep digging in. We conceded to a set-piece which is not what we wanted.

“We showed great spirit to get back into the game and I think we deserved the three
