Today’s photo shows American comedian Joan Rivers who died four years ago today at the age of 81. Known for her razoredged wit and acerbic put-downs, she had risen to fame on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in the 1960s before hosting her own rival programme The Late Show with Joan Rivers in 1986. She was a close friend of Prince Charles, who on hearing of her death said, “She was utterly irreplaceable.”
