THE GREAT BRITISH BAKE OFF

It’s cake week! Heralded by Noel Fielding, dressed as Marie Antoinette, no less. A sight which is both completely bizarre and yet not at all surprising.
First up for their signature challenge, the contestants are asked to make a tray bake. Then the technical challenge is a strange green French concoction that won’t have you running to the shops so you can munch along (not like last week’s Wagon Wheels). Then for the showstopper, they have to make a two-tiered chocolate collar cake. Which, on the hottest day of the year, we’re sure will prove to be no problem at all.
We’re loving this year’s batch of bakers, even more so after some great little “getting to know you” film clips.
And the series is rising nicely in this second episode, with a decent number of solid innuendos starting to appear, and a total of three – yes, count ‘em, three – Hollywood handshakes.
