BANK WAR ON DOPPEL GANGS
Lloyds Bank is using celebrity lookalikes to highlight the half a million UK businesses who have been scammed by impersonation fraud.
Doppelgangers of Gordon Ramsay, Karren Brady and a well-fed Richard Branson are warning SMEs they could lose around £27,000 in an attack when fraudsters use the information and personal data of suppliers, bosses or business contacts and impersonate them to defraud companies. Law firms are most likely to fall victim followed by HR professionals, IT workers and finance companies. Lloyds and Get Safe Online are urging business owners to put online security precautions in place and to inform staff what tricks to look out for – such as requests to change bank account details.
