The sunny summer encouraged us to splash out more on our cards, new figures reveal.
Despite Brexit worries, a Barclaycard report reveals consumer spending rose 4.5% year on year in August. Petrol and groceries were up 6.9%, with entertainment, including trips to hit movies like Incredibles 2, leaping 10.3%. But a third of consumers are now “planning to tighten their belts”, said Barclaycard’s Esme Harwood.
