Loyal fans set to turn calendar into best-selling ever

- BY TOM BRYANT Head of Showbiz tom.bryant@mirror.co.uk

THE Summer Holiday is over but Cliff Richard fans can celebrate – because the singer’s calendar for 2019 is out.

The new edition is Sir Cliff ’s 40th and the first since his High Court victory over the BBC over its coverage of a police raid on his home amid false sexassault claims.

One insider said: “It’s been a tough few years for Sir Cliff but he is back to his best and his latest calendar is expected to race to the top of the charts as his fans rally around him.”

Sales over the 40 years have totalled more than 1.5 million but insiders believe the 77-year-old’s new calendar will outsell his others.

Sir Cliff has said that since the allegations were made in 2014 some shops had refused to sell the calendars.

He said: “They sent it back. All of this disruption caused me unbelievable hurt and pain. It felt like torture” The new series of monthly shots from maker Danilo show a smiling Sir Cliff on stage in a series of poses, including strumming his guitar.

The blurb promises his fans will “not be disappointed with this year’s A3 format official calendar featuring a collection of stunning images of this pop icon favourite”.

Last week the Mirror told how Sir Cliff feared he would never get to share new songs again during his bitter court fight.

But as he celebrated the 60th anniversary of debut single Move It, he said his album Rise Up, out on November 23, was inspired by that “bad period”.

Single Rise Up is released on October 12 and the pop legend will perform at the Albert Hall on October 14 and 15.
