UEFA ‘TAKE-AWAY’

-

UEFA could scrap the away goals rule in European football. Some of Europe’s top coaches have asked the governing body to review the format. They feel scoring in away ties is not as difficult as it was in previous eras. UEFA’s annual meeting in Nyon, Switzerland included Arsenal boss Unai Emery (above), Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho and former Arsenal chief Arsene Wenger. UEFA spokesman Giorgio Marchetti confirmed they would “open a discussion” on the use of the away goals rule which is used to determine the winners of knockout ties when the aggregate score is level.
