May is guilty

WHEN you are a victim of a crime you hope the culprits will be brought to justice.

New figures show that is less and less likely. Police are halting investigations before identifying suspect in tens of thousands of cases.

Failure to pursue such crimes lets down the victims and gives a green light to criminals.

So it is hardly surprising offences are on the rise. At the same time police stations are being closed and the number of bobbies on the beat has been cut by 8,000.

Don’t blame our over-stretched police. Blame the Prime Minister and ex-Home Secretary who imposed these cuts: Theresa May.
