JAILED Dr Ellie Holman DUBAI holidaymakers are being warned they could be jailed if they booze on board flights or take duty-free alcohol into the country.

The alert from the British Embassy in the United Arab Emirates came after mum-of-three Dr Ellie Holman, 44, fell foul of the zero-tolerance policy.

The Swedish dentist, who lives in Sevenoaks, Kent, with her English partner, was locked up for three days with her four-year-old daughter for drinking wine on an Emirates plane from Gatwick to Dubai.

After an outcry, the charges were dropped.

The Embassy said even passengers with alcohol in their blood could be arrested. And those in transit are also affected.

Duty-free is often taken in as booze can be bought only in hotels or licenced premises and at high prices.

Campaign group Detained in Dubai said it will contact airlines flying there.

“Either the UAE will need to reform their laws urgently, or the airlines will need to update their policy to ensure the safety of customers,” it said. UNDER FIRE BA tells of data breach yesterday but customers heard on news before firm contacted them
