War game is a serious show of strength to UK
RUSSIAN President Vladimir Putin is staging war games involving 300,000 troops – and a social media campaign to wreck enemy morale.
Led by military intelligence wing GRU and Spetsnaz special forces, the exercise will roll through Siberia for four days from September 11 to 15 and will include Chinese and Mongolian troops.
But British intelligence analysts believe Vostok-2018 will show how easy it will be for Putin to invade Europe.
One said: “It will also show how an identical number of troops could be deployed in the opposite direction – that is westerly – to ‘roll-up’ all of Western Europe including the UK in just a few days.”
The social media campaign will announce false deaths of relatives or fake battle losses.
The Russian system will send signals such as texts via Russian intelligence and send them out again corrupted.
