Dog-eat link shames city

HORRIFIED animal lovers are demanding a British city stops twinning with a Chinese province hosting a Dog Meat Festival.

More than 16,000 residents have signed a petition urging Newport’s Labour-run council to axe its ties with Guangxi.

Thousands of dogs are eaten there in a 10-day gala.

Campaigner Leah Austin: “It is really sad Newport is aligned with such sickening cruelty.”

The council said: “We will consider the petition.”
