ENTERTAINMENT

-

Channel 4, 8pm

It’s Bread Week, which means Paul Hollywood is in his element. His eyebrow becomes more arched and the handshakes are harder to come by. This is his “thing”, and he’s a tough critic at the best of times.

Expect lots of talk of proving and rising, but whether the bakers can prove themselves and rise to the challenge is another matter.

First they have to make 12 Chelsea buns, giving lots of scope for innuendo at the very least.

The technical test is to make eight garlic naan breads. “I’m hoping to catch them out,” says Paul, the Bond villain of baking.

Then later, the showstopper is the largest bread sculpture ever set in the tent. They have five hours to make the highly decorated Korovai celebration bread. “I’m expecting Korovai perfection,” warns Paul.

The bakers’ creations must include three tiers. And yes, one way or another, there will be tears.
