Best ever says Aidy, no kidding

- BY ADRIAN KAJUMBA

AIDY BOOTHROYD reckons he is working with his bestever England Under-21 squad.

The Young Lions face Latvia today looking to take a big step towards qualifying for next year’s Euros in Italy and San Marino.

Boothroyd will be without England’s two best performers from their goalless draw against Holland on Thursday after Leicester duo Ben Chilwell and Demarai Gray were promoted to the seniors.

But their absence will give the U-21 boss a chance to hand some of his other young talents a run-out.

Boothroyd said: “When I look at the squad, it is probably the strongest I have ever had, which is good in many ways.

“But it also gives you a bit of a problem because they all have a right to say ‘I should be in the team’, and I have to manage that.”

Two more wins will guarantee Group Four top spot for England, who are five points clear of the Dutch.
