Egg freezing rate doubles
THE number of women freezing their eggs has doubled in three years.
There were 1,310 egg freezing cycles in 2016, according to data from the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority.
This was up 17% on the previous year and double the 2013 figure.
The most common age of women was 38.
HFEA chairwoman Sally Cheshire said: “Women using their own frozen eggs in treatment have a success rate of 18%.”
