Mum accused over injured tot ‘too calm’
A MUM showed no emotion as doctors fought to save her baby after his skull was fractured and ribs broken in an incident at home, a court heard.
As surgeons tried to save her son, Elizabeth Wilkins, 23, was “unusually” calm but told medics it was because she was used to watching Holby City on TV, a jury was told.
The court heard partner Erick Vanselow, 30, told medics he had accidentally dropped the infant on to a plastic counter.
But prosecutors said the injuries could not have been caused accidentally.
Vanselow and Wilkins, both students at Plymouth University at the time, deny assault and GBH. The trial continues at the city’s crown court.
