The frontman, 25, (below) will be sidelined for at least four months after suffering severe knee ligament damage in an Under-23’s outing against Bristol City.

His absence leaves the Elland Road outfit with four-goal top scorer Kemar Roofe as their only fit and experience­d forward.

Victor Orta, Leeds’ director of football, said: ”This is disappoint­ing for Patrick and the team. He has settled in well since joining from Middlesbro­ugh, quickly becoming an important player and a popular part of the group.

“But we have an excellent medical team and he will still play a key role.”
