Unfit Papy sacked by Black Cats

SUNDERLAND have told Papy Djilobodji he is getting the sack.

The club claim the £50,000-a-week player (above) turned up for work this season two months late and badly unfit.

The 29-year-old Senegal international asked to leave in June and stayed away in July and August, trying to find a new club.

But there were no takers for the £8million defender, who spent last season on loan at Dijon – and Sunderland have finally lost patience.

The club said he “comprehensively” failed a fitness test last week.

He has not been paid all summer.

He has a contract to June 2020, but that will now be cancelled and he could face legal action for compensation from the League One outfit.
