DUNELM IN A DECLINE
Curtains and cushions chain Dunelm has blamed boardroom upheaval, a hit from a recent takeover and difficult trading for its second successive year of falling profits.
The firm made £102million in the year to the end of June, down 6.7%.
The bottom line was dented by £8.4m of costs incurred from its takeover of WorldStores.
Company chairman Andy Harrison admitted the group had let “some of our basic retail disciplines” slip due to management changes and the “distraction” of its Worldstores acquisition.
Sales in stores open for at least a year increased 4.2%.
