End of road for Sir Vince

SIR Vince Cable is said to be quitting as Lib Dem leader as he felt he could take the party no further.

Former boss Lord Ming Campbell, 77, lifted the lid on why the 74-year-old decided to step down.

He said ahead of today’s party conference opening in Brighton: “I think he can see the end of the road.

“He’s given it his best shot. He brought stability, which was necessary.”
