‘New spell of austerity to hit services‘

-

VITAL services face further cuts under a fresh round of Tory austerity, experts warn today.

Ministries where budgets are not protected could see 2.1% reductions after 2020, said the New Economics Foundation.

It comes despite claims from Chancellor Philip Hammond that there is “light at the end of the tunnel”.

The think tank said potential cuts include £70million per year for prisons and £30million for housing and planning.

Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell said: “This report lays bare the fiction of any end to austerity.”
