Call for Tube smiles really riles

-

A CAMPAIGNER who wants to encourage Londoners to smile at each other on the Tube has been branded sexist.

Smiles On The Line founder Glen Freeman is urging commuters to be more friendly, with a special day next Tuesday.

But critic Gary Alderson said Mr Freeman should be banned from the Underground, calling his idea “dangerous”. Ian Rennie added: “This is something seedy men do to women when they tell them to smile more.”

Mr Freeman, a data consultant, 36, had hoped for “connection and openness”.

He said: “Some people were really angry but others realised the opportunity.”
