Labour to aid off-roll pupils

-

LABOUR has pledged to stop schools boosting their exam league ratings by “offrolling” pupils illegally.

Angela Rayner said her party would in government end the “perverse incentive” gained by expelling troublesome or badly performing youngsters.

The Shadow Education Secretary’s vow follows an Ofsted finding that 10,000 pupils leaving school rolls do not appear on others.

She said: “We will close the loopholes and reform the system to support our most vulnerable children.”
