Wave hello to another day of stormy weather

-

A LIGHTHOUSE is battered by waves and winds as the remnants of Storm Helene sweep Britain before Storm Ali hits today.

Onlookers watched the dramatic action in Porthcawl, South Wales.

Strong winds forced a flight from Guernsey to Leeds Bradford airport to make a heavy nose wheel landing.

In Brighton, waves crashed near the pier and in Dover ferries battled choppy seas. Storm Ali is set to bring more misery with amber warnings in North England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Winds could reach 60-70mph, the Met Office said. “We could see close to 80mph in exposed areas.”

Shoppers spent £0.5billion more in supermarkets during the heatwave compared to last year, analysts Kantar Worldpanel said.
