BAD MOVE ITV, 8pm

Bad Move was one of the most aptly titled new shows of last year, but at least some viewers lapped it up. While many of us found it rather tedious and, well, unfunny, others disagreed. So much so that it’s back for this second series.

Jack Dee and Kerry Godliman play couple Steve and Nicky, ‘townies’ who have moved to the countryside and face endless woe.

Episode one concerns itself with their futile hunt for a builder to fix the gaping hole in the roof of their crumbling home.

Endless discussions of finding someone result in Steve saying: “Let’s all try and sound positive for a change”, words that are slightly amusing coming from Jack Dee, who delivers it without a hint of irony.

Finally they find Honest John. The only problem is, he’s rather too honest.

This will be too slow for some – it feels as if you’re waiting half an hour for the punchline. But it’s comfortable, easy viewing.
