Mitchell ‘spark’ to lift England

JOHN MITCHELL can provide the “spark” England need to fire up their World Cup challenge.

So says Matt Dawson, who captained his country during Mitchell’s first spell on the Red Rose coaching staff 20 years ago.

Mitchell (above), 54, rejoins England’s staff as defence coach on a one-year deal and World Cup winner Dawson said: “That says to me they want someone to spark it up.

“With Mitch, you’ll get on with it or feel his wrath.”
